Astrophysics, python tools & photography

Hi, my name is Daniel Maschmann, an astrophysicist, a lover of Python and an enthusiast of analog photography.

I have been a postdoc at Steward Observatory in Tucson, Arizona since October 2022. Before that I did my PhD at the Observatory in Paris with the subject “The origin of double-peak emission-line galaxies”. During my PhD I focused on galaxy mergers and associated effects such as enhanced star formation or triggered activity of the central super massive black hole. My current work is now all about star clusters in nearby galaxies and how we can use them to understand the evolutionary path of their host galaxy.

On this page I want to present my research, share my python projects and show you pictures I took around the world.
